Theme: Decision Making Topic: Our Decisions and the Nation Text: I Samuel 8: 1-20 Aim: To enable every believer know that personal and group decisions affect the Well-being of a nation. INTRODUCTION Our text reveals how the decision of two young men and that of the elders of Israel led to the demand for a King. Before this time, Israel had existed as a theocratic nation. God was their maker and King. The priest or seer acted as God’s Chief Minister. He acted as intermediary between God and Israel. Samuel acted in this capacity until his sons (Joel and Abijah) became judges. The decision to walk contrary to the way of their father (Samuel) and the elders’ decision to be like other nations altered the course of history for the Israelite nation. Between a Daniel and a Judas Iscariot.

Text: Daniel 6:10 / Mathew 27:3 – 7 Aim: For Christians to treasure God’s love more than worldly gains. INTRODUCTION: Our texts highlight the choices of two men – Daniel and Judas Iscariot. Daniel had grown to become governor of governors in the land of slavery (Babylon). This was largely due to his unfeigned faith in God. A law was made that was aimed at victimizing him if he chose to continue his walk with God. Judas Iscariot was the treasurer among the disciples of Jesus Christ. He betrayed his Master when he decided to bargain with the Chief priest and elder for thirty (30) pieces of Silver. He realized too late that he could not undo what he has done and hanged himself.
